Windows Service API innehåller funktionalitet som låter dig få process-ID för den process som är värd för tjänsten. Det är möjligt för en enskild process att vara värd för många tjänster, så processen kanske inte avslutas när tjänsten du är intresserad av har avslutats, men du bör vara säker med SQL Server. Tyvärr exponerar inte .NET Framework denna funktionalitet. Det exponerar dock handtaget för tjänsten som det använder internt för API-anrop, och du kan använda det för att göra dina egna API-anrop.
